Review: How To Lead Your Family by Joel Beeke

Overall Summary/review:

  • This book is obviously a very short book (cover), but it also is, as the cover suggests a book that includes Practical advice (p. 12) is built on a Biblical Framework (p. 3) and serves as Spiritual Encouragement (p. 5).

  • This book is very appropriate for men in our current time (p. 1).

  • Study questions for further study and personal reflection questions at the end of each chapter.

  • Beeke presents the argument that we are to conform to Christ and what He shows us through His life. Just as Christ is a Prophet, Priest, and King, so we too should be prophets, priests, and kings of our homes. (table of contents)

  • Men as Prophets at home: 21

  • Men as Priests at home: 38, 39, 41

  • Men as kings at home: 50, also provides 6 counsels in discipline of our children.
