And the outer gold on bright blue
This is a great introduction to Jonathan Edwards and his works. Whether you’ve read Edwards before, or this is the first time even hearing his name, this is a great book. (p. Xii)
Jonathan Edwards’ works, though written so long ago are still applicable to today. (p. Xiii)
This book gives excellent context of Edwards and his surroundings, making it a great book to both understand the history of the time, but also get a sense of who he was personally.
Murray builds heavily off of Samuel Hopkins biography of Edwards, but he adds a lot to it and Murray’s is also much easier to read.
The book starts us off even before Edwards was born looking at his family tree all the way back in the 1600s.
Murray also breaks down a lot of heavy material into smaller easier-to-understand sizes. P. 43
