Overall Summary/review:
The book (and series) is a wonderful introduction to theology and a great selection for someone who isn’t familiar with the Reformed Tradition or the gospel at all.
This was one of the first books that I read when I became interested in theology, by the grace of God, and it really helped me to understand the gospel especially the historic reformed and biblical gospel.
Because this is the first book in this series, I want to take a little time to talk about his Series Preface: Recovering the Gospel. This preface is found in each of the three volumes and sets up the series very well. (first page and last page)
The only negative about this book and the entire series, is that there is no index in the back for anything. The whole thing is made up of footnotes. Not my favorite.
This book is split into three parts and 26 chapters. The sections are each on a passage of Scripture, and each chapters break these down passages like sermons. Because of this, these books can also be used as a sort of commentary on these passages.
Section 1 breaks down 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Section 2 breaks down Romans 1:16. And section three discusses Romans 3:23-27.
